The first Italian Biojet SAF cargo for Rome Airport and ITA Airways passes through Civitavecchia logistics hub.

Through the logistic systems of Civitavecchia, that include four coastal terminals, an oil platform and a network of pipelines, it has been possible to unload a tanker carrying a batch of over 3,500 tons of Biojet SAF produced by Eni Refinery of Taranto.

SAF stands for Sustainable Aviation Fuel. It is obtained exclusively from sustainable feedstocks and represents, in the short and medium term, a way to significantly contribute to the decarbonisation of air transport. This is an important result not only for our infrastructure but for the entire aviation sector: using SAF can reduce lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to the traditional Jet Fuel it replaces.

In particular, the companies Sodeco and Petroli Investimenti, owners of the logistics system of Civitavecchia of the Ludoil Group, were an active and strategic part of an integrated project with Eni, Rome Airports and ITA Airways. The transaction is a virtuous example of a green transition that confirms the strong shift of the Ludoil Group towards sustainability.
